I'm installing game now. I was reading that you have to have bought the game to play OB. Any truth to that? I created an account with NCsoft, but there doesn't seem to be a way for me to select Aion OB.

I'm hoping that once I get this installed, it will work itself out. But if you have insights, they are welcome.

And assuming I get in, what class should I go with for the group?

you ahve to preorder, with only $5 down at your local Gamestop store to get a beta key. you dont have to buy the game later and you can get your money back if you decide not to buy it.

what class? try out whateva you like =) there are 4 base classes that each branch into final sub-classes at lev10. example: mage --> sorcerer (mage in wow) and spiritmaster (lock in wow)

i played a sorcerer in closed beta, its yer standard glass nuker. for open beta i'm giving the assassin a shot.... or maybe a ranger (hunter equiv) havent decided yet and im only lev 9

Templar- Tank
Sorc-Ranged magic dps
Spiritmaster-ranged magic dps with pet
Assassin- Melee DPS + stealthy
Ranger- Ranged DPS +traps (be ready to kite)
Cleric- pure healer
Chanter- Melee DPS healer.
