I am thinking they may have hacked my gmail account and sent a change password request. I had no virus/worm/trojan on my system. All of my add-ons are mainstream and hadn't used any new ones lately. Ran complete scans of my machine after it happened and found nothing. So if you have an I-phone I highly suggest getting the free authenticator app. If not check to see if your mobile phone is supported, if it is you can get the mobile authenticator for about a buck. Barring that you can get the key fob from blizzard for 6.50.

what did you use to scan your machine?

I scanned my machine with multiple things, spybot s&d, malwarebytes anti-malware, lavasofts ad-aware, mcafee virusscan and then I also used cc-cleaner afterwards.

If someone else has access to your account and tries to log on another comp that might have virus and stuff that could cause your account to get hacked. Happened to a friend of mine. His friend logged in from cafe and got hacked a few days.

At this point anyone who doesn't have one should get /smacked. How many more guildies need to get hacked for you guys to protect your invesment (yes I said investment). You put hours building your toons, for some gold farmer to hack it and mess your sh*t up. I'm not just talking about the $15 you pay a month. Spend the enxtra $6.50 or whatever it is, and get it already!!! :P

with proper anti-virus you really dont need one imho

but anyways heres the letter from Blizz about chargeback, loth:

Greetings,

Access to the World of Warcraft account MORBIDOSIS, has been temporarily disabled due to a dispute filed against the account's past payments. This dispute was filed by the bank, credit card provider, or financial institution associated with the payment on the account. As a result of this dispute, funds paid on the account were withdrawn from Blizzard Entertainment. This is known as a "chargeback".

The total withdrawn by this chargeback was: $14.99.

The account is now considered by Blizzard to have a negative balance, and will be unavailable for play until any and ALL outstanding balances have been repaid to Blizzard.

Repayment can be made by contacting our Billing department at 1-800-592-5499.
Hours: 8:00 AM 8:00 PM Pacific Time, Monday through Friday (excluding US holidays)
We have also provided the following numbers for our international customers:
 Australia: 1-800-041-378
 Singapore: 1-800-2549-9273
 Mexico: 001-888-578-7628
 Argentina: 0800-333-0778
 Chile: 1230-020-5554

Other International callers without access to our 800 numbers may use: 1-949-955-0283
If you are unable to contact Billing by phone and wish to inquire about repayment via a money order, please contact billing@blizzard.com requesting that they send money order repayment information.

Until the amount which was withdrawn from the chargeback is repaid, the World of Warcraft account will remain indefinitely unplayable. Please do not reply to this email, as you will receive no further response.

Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Well that's plain bullshit honestly. It's against Visa/Mastercard guidelines for any Merchant to pass on their credit card fees (such as transaction fees, discount fees, or chargeback/retrieval fees) to their customers. The only way a Merchant is allowed to pass any sort of processing fees for credit cards onto a Customer is by offering a discount to the customer for using Cash as opposed to Credit. This must be clearly stated in their Terms & Conditions.

In the case of Blizzard, since this is an e-commerce transaction, its impossible to accept payment by cash. I don't think they even offer electronic transfer, which still causes Blizzard to incur a fee from their bank for accepting such credits. Anyways, You can dispute that information with Blizzard, and if they don't credit you back for charging you that, you can demand to ask for the name and phone # of their Credit Card Processor and notify them of the violation.

Yet another reason to get an Authenticator...

ADOBE FLASH VULNERABILITY
Quote from: Lucytr (Source)A critical vulnerability has been discovered in Adobe Flash Player 10.0.45.2 and Adobe Reader/Acrobat 9.x, and could potentially be used to target World of Warcraft players and accounts. The newest available version of Adobe Flash 10.1, Release Candidate 7 (available at http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/), does not appear to contain this vulnerability, and we recommend that everyone upgrade their Flash player as soon as possible. Earlier versions of Adobe Reader and Acrobat, specifically version 8.x, do not appear to contain this vulnerability, either.

For more information, please visit Adobe.com: http://www.adobe.com/support/security/a ... 10-01.html

Get an Authenticator if you haven't got one already. Get your very own guard dog and secure your account at the same time. Visit http://us.battle.net/security for more info!

I would also like to add that this is NOT a virus. The only way to protect yourself from this kind of vulnerability is to keep your system up-to-date in all ways, including Flash.
