Lance from UO LSD

Postby Lance » Thu Jul 29, 2010 1:57 pm

Since I've seen some of the faces from back in my UO days post around here, I figured I would try and hop on board. This is Lance, as the post title would imply. I played back during the 1999-2000 time period, with Lothar, Gorath, Kuriel, Barnes, Dough, Swywalker, Gandolf the Grey, Valnyn, and probably quite a few others I may have forgotten.

Truth is, I have been trying to track you guys down, and have failed at it quite a few times over the years, but recently did a search on the UO search engine that they have now, and found Kuriel was the only name that got a hit. Apparently, she still plays, and is still in the UO guild along with 6 others that I don't recognize. This website was still listed as their website though in the UO system, which is how I managed to stumble upon this board.

So, here I am. I finally made it! Hope to hear from some of you old time UO folks soon.

Howdy Lance!

Long time no see. ;)

Zak told me you were looking for me earlier and I got your in-game mail. I was unable to reach you as I don't use ICQ, and although I do remember my ICQ #, I don't remember my password, and my account is linked to my old lsdarkness.com addy which I don't have access to/use anymore.

Anyways, WB... You need to catch me up to speed with with whatcha been up to. Can't believe you could forget this URL... we've had it forever. Kinda sparse these days, but it serves its purposes. Most of the old folks are still around, either playing WoW or in hiatus. Barnes, Feeber/Belzadar, Rekoj/Xahar, Beauty/Angela, Swywalker/Razziel are currently playing of the names you prolly remember. As for Gorath, Dough/Pyke and Acacia and a few others, they're still around, just not currently playing a MMOs. They sneak around the forums now and again.

The UO Division was abandoned a long time ago, shortly after most of the members left to WoW, I'd say 4 years ago or so. Kuriel and Orgazmo (Johnny Leviathan) got married IRL and keep the guildstone alive there. I believe Lady Hawke also plays too, but not sure you remember her. She may have come around after you had left.

Anyone else I didn't mention has fallen off the map, such as Val, who I know you were close with. I miss the Major, shame I lost touch with him. But as you know, some people disappear for years, only to come back to the fold. I personally was on a LoA for about 3 years, my longest disappearing act and just came back almost a year ago to WoW. I'm enjoying myself there, looking forward to the new expansion Catacylsm.

Are you intending on staying in WoW, or just poking around, trying it out? If you need any help, pointers, etc, give me a holler... you know I'm always there to help. Glad to see ya thought of us old folks. :)

Ah so good to finally get a response from you Loth!

It is a shame we have lost touch with Val, I was looking forward to telling him that I did indeed follow through with my plans to join the military. I spent 4 years in the army, did a deployment to Iraq and another to Afghanistan, got sick of the war, and left the Army in December of 07 after fullfilling more than I enlisted for (That silly stop loss nonsense). Today, I go to school full time, heading into my third year of college and prepping myself to go on to medical school.

Do you have any contact information for Kuriel at all? Along with Val, she was certainly the person I was most close with in the guild, and I would love to talk to her. It is funny to think that I was only around 13 when I played with you all. A long time has certainly passed.

As for World of Warcraft, my account is currently closing, just has a bit of time left on it. I have played the game for a very long time since it came out, off and on, and I am at the point yet again when it is time for a break. I do not get much time to play during the school year anyways. My mains currently reside on the Skullcrusher server. I may come back to check out Cataclysm, but I fear I am done until then.

I saw the post about our old news feed from the UO gold, and checked that out. I found the news post about that PvP tournament, where I wound up beating you and taking the title for that week. All the way back in 2000! I still remember that night, believe it or not. It was quite a fight we had.

Anyways, I should get going now. I am moving tomorrow, so I have a long day ahead of me. Hopefully Ill be back on the net in a couple of days so I can check back in. Until then, we'll see if I get some more bites from some other UO folks, and if you do have any way to contact Kuriel, please let me know. Great to hear from ya, glad you are alive and well.

hey Lance,

Yes I remember you heading off to the Military and being inspired by Val and his long career. Believe it or not I still have Kur's phone #, but that was back when she was living in North Carolina. She's since moved to the Vancouver I believe to be with Org. so I doubt she's kept that #. I will ask Acacia if she knows how to reach her. I think Ac still talks to Lady Hawke who's in UO and maybe Lady can get the message to Kur if she still plays. It may be infrequent at this point, not really sure. I still can't believe UO is still around, but then again I still think the The Realm which LSD played for a bit before we went to UO which was our stomping ground between NWN and UO is still around too, http://www.realmserver.com/.

Good luck with your move, and glad to see you're doing well with your life. Med. School is quite the journey.

The Realm, wow, that was a long time ago and at the time was pretty cutting edge. Love that they still have in the header "Dial-Up Friendly" 99% of the people around here are going "what does that mean?"

Yeeeeeeah, work it Barnes.

The move went (mostly) without a hiccup, though I had to be without internet for four days. I swear, we take it for granted. I felt cut off from everything. It doesn't help that my banking is all done online, as well as everything for my school, so that had something to do with it I am sure. Just glad to be back up and running!

Anyway, sounds good Loth, just let me know whenever ya get any information about contacting her. While Val did inspire me, I cut my career a lot shorter than his, as well as stayed enlisted. Four years of infantry is enough for anyone, as far as I'm concerned, if they spend 2+ of those years deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan like I did. Shows you much of the terrible stuff people are capable of doing to one another in this world, and after losing many friends to the war and somehow being one of the lucky ones to come back in one piece after two trips over there, I retired. I don't care what politicians and the news say, I'VE seen no progress over there. 9 years and running, it is still the same old crap.

I did actually play The Realm, a looooong time ago haha Funny that it is still around. UO is certainly still going strong, hell they just released an expansion for it, though it has changed so much since I played back with LSD. Almost a totally new game I feel.

And Hi Belz, I remember that name, didn't know you were Feeber at first. Thanks for hooking up my forum account! So many old faces, this is great.

Cheers,
Lance
